Owned and run by head chef Hayley, the WeeCOOK business was born in 2011. Following her dream of having her own business, Hayley gained years of experience working in renowned Scottish hotels and restaurants before setting up WeeCOOK to freelance and offer professional chef services to private and industry clients. WeeCOOK now run The WeeCOOK Kitchen, produce WeeCOOK award winning pies, also WeeCOOK Street food for events & festivals and other services including: Providing private chefs for a dinner parties or special occasion, cooking lessons, charity work, cooking demonstrations, media and TV work, recipe writing, events, festivals or farmers markets. The aim then as now is to provide great service and cook tasty food for everyone. ​

 OUR food & PIES

We love to cook proper food. Our passion for cooking shows in the food we prepare and serve. We cook dishes inspired by family traditions, local produce and our love of food from around the world. In addition to the cafe, restaurant & takeaway menus, we have our WeeCOOK weekend 'Secret menu' and special offers, plus our super popular award winning pies. We release various set menus like our tapas or seafood and shellfish, Sunday brunch and seasonal or themed special dishes.​ We also cater for events, festivals, business meeting and special occasions. Please enquire about event space, event catering menus and outside catering available from the WeeCOOK Kitchen and Crew.

We love tasty, home cooked food so our menus use fresh and where possible and practical; local or Scottish sourced ingredients. We pride ourselves in using Scottish wholesalers, producers and local suppliers.

We are unlicensed so you can bring your own bottle of wine, beer, cider or cocktail can to enjoy with your meal-there is no corkage. If the bar is open you’re welcome to bring through alcoholic drinks purchased at the bar next door too! Bottles of spirits may be only be permitted at the discretion of management and are subject to corkage.

We have outdoor hacienda style covered seating areas in addition to our small indoor restaurant tables. Due to COVID 19 restrictions there may be limits on tables times to allow for sanitation between seatings and to give as many customers a possible the opportunity to enjoy a coffee or meal with us. As the seasons change we recommend dressing for the weather, wrapping up warm and remembering your jacket. We do have a couple of small gas outdoor heaters but this is Scotland after all and it can get chilly plus, we have to keep doors and windows open and all areas well ventilated for the COVID requirements for the safety of all customers and our staff.

Limited parking however the bus stop is right outside Barry Downs holiday park and it’s just a short cycle or taxi ride from Carnoustie or Monifieth!

HOSPITALITY APPRENTICE JOBS

We are now starting our recruitment for 2 new hospitality apprentices. Earn and learn in The WeeCOOK Kitchen at Barry Downs Holiday park. Working in a happy busy business with a crew of friendly staff including the business owner to provide our customers with great food and amazing service!

The hospitality apprentice role covers all aspects of our business from serving customers, making coffee, cleaning and hygiene, knowledge and preparation of ingredients, supporting back of house, washing up, attending events, farmers markets and festivals; making and selling our award winning pies, are all part of the job.

Here is an amazing opportunity to get to experience all the ins and outs of a growing hospitality business.

Enthusiasm, friendly personality, good attitude, trustworthiness, resilience, ability to use initiative, being a team player and the ability to speak confidently with customers, plus a genuine interest in food and hospitality are all essential for this role.

What skills will you learn?Apprentices go to college 1 day a week to gain formal hospitality qualifications. You will learn processes, organisational skills, communication, team work, leadership, administration, cleaning, self discipline, customer service, food safety, food handling, barista skills.

This job is suitable for a school leaver, or those already working in the industry who have yet to gain qualifications and want to be part of an inclusive team that’s passionate about the food and service it gives its customers.

Due to the location and shift start and end times, own transport advantageous, or practical access to bus routes which service the bus stop right outside the premises.
